Some of my favorite trails that I have done so far that I would do again! Torrey Pines 📍 San Diego, CA 5.0 miles (out and back) A San Diego must! Start early in the morning for the best views! Best to park by the beach and get your workout going up the hill to the trailhead! Discovery Lake/ Double Peak📍 San Marcos, CA 4.0 miles Park at Discovery Lake and you can walk around the lake. You will find a path leading upward to double peak between residential areas. Lots of rocky paths so make sure to bring the right shoes. Cowles Mountain: Northeast Approach📍 La Mesa, CA 4.8 miles This uphill workout to Cowles’s summit gives beautiful views of Lake Murray and the Misson Trails Regional park. Lake Calavera Preserve📍 Carlsbad, CA 3.2 miles This peak is actually a volcanic plug dome- the remains of a blob of magma that forced its way upward about 22 million years ago! Lake Calavera is most beautiful in the early hours of the day! Monserate Mountain📍 Fallbrook, CA 4.2 miles Reaching at 1,567 elevation, this uphill workout combines some heart-pounding exercise with a spacious and panoramic view at the top! If you’re looking for a challenge this is the one for you! Annie’s Canyon Trail📍 Solana beach, CA 1.4-2.5 Annie’s Canyon Trail in Solana Beach, is a scenic hike through San Elijo Lagoon Ecological Reserve, known for its unique narrow sandstone slot canyon and coastal views — but it doesn’t directly lead to the beach itself. Instead it brings you to overlooks with views of the Pacific Ocean and San Elijo Lagoon, and you can see the coast from the trail’s higher points. Santa Margarita River📍 Fallbrook, CA 5.2 miles Santa Margarita River Trail in Fallbrook is an easy-to-moderate hike that follows one of Southern California’s last free-flowing rivers. Think shady trees, sandy river crossings, and peaceful water views. Get there early since the lot fills up fast! Open from 8am-5pm! Iron Mountan📍 Poway, CA 5.0 miles This 2,700 summit offers a sweeping, 360 degree panorama from glistening ocean to the blue mountains. Lots of incline so make sure to bring comfy shoes! Parking lot is small so start early for a good spot! (Avoid weekends gets VERY busy!) Los Penasquitos Canyon📍 Del Mar, CA East approach: 6.6 miles & West approach: 5.4 miles This is one of my favorite trails that leads to the Penasquitos creek waterfall! Walking through dense oak and sycamore woodlands. It’s a very flat trail but with lots of rocks so make sure to wear the right shoes. Good for mountain bikers and horse back riding. Park at canyon side park and follow for signs to the trail. Misson Trails Regional park📍 La Mesa, CA The park features about 60–65 miles of interconnected trails ranging from easy flat walks to challenging peak climbs. If you want a short and easy hike, the Visitor Center Loop Trail is about 1.5–2 miles. For a flat, extended walk or run, the Father Junipero Serra Trail. There are many different entrances to the trails so do your research before you go! I used the Mission trails Clairemont mesa entrance to start my hike! #sandiegohike #hike #nature #sandiegohiddengems #fyp
