@unpunishablewoman: Women are often conditioned to show excessive gratitude for basic respect, financial responsibility and things they or their children are already entitled to receive. You can be gracious and appreciative without treating another adult doing their basic responsibilities as an extraordinary gift.
Why would I thank my partner for doing the dishes? Does anyone thank me when I do them ? No. That's the logic I apply to my life

I went to a doctor’s appointment and he said at one point that I still had good muscle tone in my legs, and I said ‘I know.’ He replied, ‘You’re supposed to say thank you.’

What is everyone's thoughts on alimony? my husband left me after twenty three years of marriage and is claiming he shouldn't have to pay alimony; that I can just get a job. i do have a job, but I have full custody of our daughter still. And he makes well over double what I make. I also was a stay at home mom All of those years. i dont have money for a lawyer so I have to represent myself in court in three months. im just nervous.

My husband had to take care of the kids for 2 weeks when i was doing my BSC, now he wants me to thank him for taking care of his own kids, when i prepared varieties of foods into the freezer with my own money, bought airfryer and swallow maker and microwave for them with my own money for them, so that he doesn't have to do much with cooking. Now he is throwing tantrums.

When I was on the dating apps (which … NO), every time a man complimented me in our initial messaging, I would NOT respond with a ‘thank you’. It sets up an expectation. Like they think I owe them something for it. My response every time they said something about my looks?!: ‘I know’. Cuz I do. #whimbaddies 💅🔮✨

It also whenever a man fulfills even the most basic expectations of man, he is often celebrated as exceptional. Yet women who go far beyond their traditional roles rarely receive the same recognition. This is why most men have grown because they are constantly praised for baseline standards. It's wild

This hit hard. My parents kept saying they were going to give me a bill for my childhood. I don’t have any children by choice. I have pets and don’t expect to them to be grateful for what I do for them. They didn’t ask to be here.

My parents always made me feel like I owed them things. It damaged our relationship and my self-esteem. You’re right, I didn’t ask to be born and they had a legal responsibility to provide the things I was continually told to be grateful for.
