Bad: "dark elegant site, moody atmosphere, premium feel, vintage type" Good: "One light source, upper left. Everything on the page falls away from it. No pure white exists anywhere, the lightest value allowed is a pale green grey. The page gets darker as you scroll, never lighter. Type is drawn like a printed label, not set like a webpage." Anyone can pick a dark background. That takes four seconds and looks like every other dark site. What took a year is knowing that dark is not a color choice, it is a lighting choice. You have to decide where the light is coming from and then obey it on every single element. Shadows fall one way. Highlights sit on one edge. Nothing glows on its own. Once the light has a source, the page reads as a photograph of a place instead of a screen. Full prompt goes in the Academy soon. Dark is not a color. It is a light you placed on purpose.
