@georgiamaythornley: 5 things I stopped doing when I realised I was the reason I had no money left🫣 time to be more honest with ourselves! #financialliteracy #moneysavingtips #wealthy
The ‘it’s only £10’ is what kills me, lots of small transactions and suddenly I’m penniless a week after payday 😫

I grew up in a money conscious household where I was told to save and not spend. However when I started earning money properly, I developed an online shopping addiction in my 20s, I loved the feeling of opening packages. Moving out and having financial responsibilities helped me reign it in. Using a wishlist helped me control the impulse buying in those early stages. Even now when I want something, I will wait a few months to decide

I’ve decided now to put 150 a month in a separate account for my personal ‘fun’ spending each month then anything I don’t spend from that amount goes back into savings next payday :)

Well done!! 🙌🏽👏🏽I’m on this journey myself. It’s been so insightful and made me aware that a large chunk of my spending habits were due to impulse & emotions 😳

No longer buying the minimum spend because of free delivery. Now I buy what I actually want and pay for shipping because spend less. Whether I spend £25 or £15 it’s still spending x

I started using amazon once a month, for items I cannot buy in town. Sound silly at first but I put stuff in basket and when time to checkout I check if I need it. use uber eats for groceries, saves spending £40 to £50 every week for stuff to end up in bin. this save £80 to £100 a month. I am disabled so I cant get to shops like I used to.

I still use cash envelopes for spending and saving, bills go out the day after pay day, I withdraw a lump sum for spending and you really think twice before handing over actual cash than swiping a phone or card ! What I don’t spend goes into separate envelopes marked up for things like Christmas, car, birthdays, any special occasions and so on

I cancelled amazon prime because it was too accessible. now I have to spend 35 to get free delivery so I am more conscious about what I am buying and I often don't buy it
