when learning about 9/11 during the 10 year anniversary a girl I was friends with who happened to be afghan started being picked on by other students because of what they learned during the session. mind you we were all 9 to 10 years old. hate is taught. my maternal grandmother's side is Muslim so I never was taught to be rude or hateful towards islam.

Genuinely I’m sick and tired of trying to dehumanise Muslims like me because of a single group that is radical and extreme. My Literal Father who was Muslim was a 9/11 survivor and because of it he now has actual PTSD from it. All he was doing at that time was going to the twin towers and wanting to give some sort of gift to one of friends who died in the Tradegies. Now, My Dad is to deathly afraid of even entering an airport or an airplane with security involved. I hate how many don’t even portray other minorities in 9/11 documentaries.

Let us also not forget the hundreds of Muslim/ Islamic people in the US who became the target of immense hatred and violence following the events of 9/11 because people were scared and on a witch hunt for the perpetrators. The actions of a few radical individuals caused an entire group of people to be demonized for years afterward.

A Muslim EMT literally re-routed so that he could go in and try and help victims. He went missing whilst saving people and was branded a potential terrorist and his parents were ostracised in their community until his body was found and he was labelled a hero.
