I also think people mistake characters like Jinx and Vi to be revolutionary. They are not , they are victims of their environment and every action towards the government was always for “selfish” reasons and never politically motivated. No Jinx did not bomb the council because she suddenly became rebellious. The original rebellious character is Ekko and maybe Sevika

Arcane is not a story about politics that they created interesting characters to tell. It is a story about pre-existing characters that they created an interesting political situation to tell. But the politics can still be an important part of the story without being the central part

its rlly dumb too because people were TOLD from season 1 that this was a prequel building to a specific status quo that MUST occur, so idk why ppl built up sooooo much fanfiction in their head about how the political landscape would end up

YES !! THANK YOU!! I always saw the show as exploring how and why people act the way they do in a given political system, with certain oppressions/privileges, etc. though season 2 isn’t perfect, I saw its conclusion as being about not the way things should be, but often how they are. I mean, sevika got a literal single seat at the table. It isn’t right, but it is what humans do to eachother in these types of societies. No one is politically or morally pure and their motivations and actions are sometimes weird or frustrating because the show itself is about people, not people as symbols for political commentary

idk the politics of the show are central to multiple characters and mild how they act like viktor ekko and cait and then it just gets sidelined in season two and i think it’s a very valid critique

I miss Silko. He truly is great written character. Revolutionary that sacrificed all his morals, and did terrible things to achieve greater good of revolution. But moment he could have it all, and basically prove all of that was worth it at the end and achieve his goals, he can not, cause he can not sacrifice last of his loved ones

I think people’s disappointment (including mine) just relates to societal context/atmosphere. Politics have been so much more relevant in people’s lives recently, and when the audience was given a story that seemed like it could act as a reflection of the real world oppression and revolutionary spirit we hold in our lives. Obviously a story does not owe us being what we desire in the moment, but I think it explains the criticism
