It took me completing a Degree recently only to realize that i no longer like that field after working in it for 7 yrs. Now im making preparations for pivoting. Doing a lot of free online certs and applying to remote jobs in the areas that i plan on pivoting....

Completey disagree with no.5 As a black person you can't even get through the door without the qualification. So make sure you acquire them. Expand your knowledge as much as possible so you're able to pivot.

Well sadly this is not true in some countries. In Germany for example, qualifications are more important than experience. I‘ve seen it so often that recruiters are forced to choose the person with the higher qualifications rather than the person who actually delivered

I disagree with point 5. I had a dead end job that did not allow any new learning opportunities and I was bored everyday. I wish I had collected qualifications that could’ve easily enabled me to easily move into another job simply cause I had knowledge in a topic like big data, data analytics, programming and so on.

So true! There needs to be a balance on number 1! Qualifications with no real experience are problematic for sure. But don’t skip on the education!
