Her working history suits her lines: a purposeful bow, deep hull and distinctive canoe stern. Designed by William Garden and built in Sidney, British Columbia, in 1970, this 58-foot timber trawler was originally named Nisku. Red cedar and Douglas fir planking over steam-bent white oak frames give her a construction story that is as interesting as her cruising history. A single Caterpillar D-333 diesel provides an eight-knot cruising pace, while Naiad stabilisers help reduce rolling underway. Two Northern Lights generators support life aboard when shore power is a distant prospect. Her travels have included Southeast Alaska, with a welcoming saloon, practical galley and open foredeck providing space to settle into the journey and watch whatever appears along the shoreline.
