@anyathroughtime: Yay or nay for the hair jewellery? They had so little to remember their loved ones by (limited photos and certainly no videos) so I think it's rather sweet. I know it's still practiced by a few artists. #victorian #mourning #historytok
I think death has become very taboo in modern times. My Nan (born 1930) said they used to keep loved ones at home until the funeral and it was normal to go round someone’s house and there be a coffin in the living room. It seems it’s only relatively recently we’ve become so weird around people dying.

Not too sure about the hair jewellery, but on seconds thought it probably would be a nice thing to do with baby’s first hair

Hi, I don’t know if you’ll read this, but I watch your videos and I’m learning British English, so I was wondering if you could add English-Spanish subtitles. I’d really appreciate it. Bye!

I've got a few pieces of memento mori hair jewellery pieces, and many other mourning jewellery pieces made of vulcanite (an early plastic) and Whitby jet. Brooches, lockets, bracelets, pocket watch fobs and necklaces. I even have a Victorian mourning bonnet.

Watching the queen and seeing the mourning of her father when he passed and how different it was throughout the years of the royals and traditions is always so interesting no matter how much I know about it 🥺

Death photos were happening into the late 1960’s. My great grandfather took a picture next to his dead wife in 1968. ( I didn’t keep that photo)
