*my mom has been clean for almost 6 years, she actually got clean right before my 2020 baby was born but we didn’t let her back in our life until early 2022. I just never changed her name in my phone since then but finally felt like I could since it’s been so long

Unfortunately for me, the alcohol just exaggerated things. My mom is sober and still the same person, just less loud and proud about it.

my mom has been clean since 2020. it's hard to forgive. I agree with the comment, I remember my mom from before. my grandfather passing is what pushed us to rekindled. he asked me to try.

My mom struggled alot when I was growing up so I don't have that many good memories as a child she has since then become a drug addict. I have tried to help her but it just seems to make things worse.

No thank you for sharing. People need to understand that’s drugs ARE NOT the addicts WHOLE PERSONALITY. You have no idea what tramua, mental heath someone is going through. The person on drugs isn’t the person that they were made by god. The drugs are the demon taking over them. 💗 My cousin had horrible trauma and mental health. He tried to get help and the “free” health care in Canada actually didn’t do their job and he ended up loosing his life at the age of 25 in 2025 two days before his 26th birthday. There was nurses that called him “just a drug addict, a useless peice of skin” my cousin wasn’t a full time user. He was a hard worker, a friend, a son, a grandson, and an uncle to my kids. He was amazing. This wasn’t his story. He lived bold and he was on his way to god and he took him home😭

I wasn't raised by my mom or Dad past like maybe 11 months. possibly a bit sooner. my mother has been the only one to try to have a relationship. kids do change alot when you have your own. it makes you think much more. the good and the bad. I'm 27 and met my bio mom at 25. I still struggle to be forgiving, especially when my kids hit milestones. I wonder how both my parents could pick anything over seeing me grow when I was a baby..I love seeing my bio mom when she does come around now(she's sober now)

The way that you’re able to share your experience and your story while also acknowledging that it isn’t always and won’t always be everyone else’s, is so beautiful, kind and vulnerable! Thank you for sharing ❤️

I can’t forgive mine. I never got the courage to forgive my mom until I got pregnant in 2024. I can’t let her poison him but there was so much abuse in my childhood

Skye!!! I love this and you guys. I’m the daughter of an addict, but also the mom who did drugs. My oldest experienced life with me before drugs and the during and now after (almost 4 years!) and my youngests never saw me before or during they just get the after version of me 🩷

Both of my parents struggled with addiction my mom has been sober 8+ years and my dad is still on his sobriety journey but has been actively trying for 2 years. Forgiving each of them has been a different journey but my parents raised us to be strong, opinionated, compassionate letting god walk me through it

My mom isn’t on drugs but is an alcoholic so I can understand. My mom had a small time of sobriety late last year that lasted 2 months or so and it was the best time. I loved spending time with her. She has since relapsed and I just can’t do it. She’s such a different person when she is actively drinking and I just wish she could stay sober 💔

My dad was an active drug addict my entire childhood. He had good times and bad. He got clean right before my daughter was born 14 years ago and now he’s one of my very best friends ❤️

Do you know how much this made me bawl? My dad - i have the same memories of him before addiction. 2020 happened & life fell apart (my dads start to active addiction). This made me want to try to attempt a relationship. I just Love him & couldn’t stand being hurt anymore 😭

From a child of an addict who didn’t know who her mom was before drugs, I really love seeing this perspective. As I get older I recognize that she had it hard growing up too, that’s why she turned out the way she did. Proud of your mom for staying clean and sober, addiction may be a disease but you can heal from it💜

It’s so nice to see parents who are recovered, my mom died an addict. She struggled with addiction for 49 years. When I prayed for her to be healed it wasn’t what I imagined but she’s finally sober ❤️

I love this for you and for her, so much. My mom still isn’t clean, she’s over 50 now so I don’t see her ever becoming clean. Shes been in jail twice this year already. Praying she will change her life and get clean 🥺
