@russellruffino: Being the strong one is not a personality trait for most entrepreneurs. It's a job somebody handed you early, you turned out to be good at it, and nobody ever relieved you of it. The mechanism is simple enough. People check on the ones who fall apart. That isn't cruelty, it's just where attention goes. It follows noise, and you have never made any. Every time you handled something by yourself you taught the room that you don't need anything, and the room believed you, because you were convincing. So now there's a version of you that everybody knows, and she's fine. He's got it. Answering at eleven at night. Making the arrangements. Holding the whole day together while something in your own life is on fire, and nobody at that table has the faintest idea, because you have got so good at this that the effort doesn't show anymore. You are not being dramatic if you say it out loud. You're correcting a story about you that stopped being true a long time ago, and most of the people who love you have been waiting for a reason to ask you a better question.
