You really can't get a good raise unless you get a new job though.

I feel gaslit all the time that I’m the problem. But then I find out through the grapevine that others have similar experiences with the bosses I had. But I still feel that trauma. Like it hurts

Yes! And it’s also frowned upon to talk about the unhealthy toxic environments in an interview setting, so you’re forced to come up with a more positive reason why you left…which doesn’t sit well with some hiring managers.

ma'am I'm 30 years old and have been bullied out of 30+ jobs. I dont have a choice. they're all toxic. ive even been abused at these jobs and nobody would defend me and I had to spin it every single time. What was I supposed to do. you "getting it" is insulting frankly..i have to humiliate myself and pretend to be unbothered in interviews where they movk me for getting abused. like what

What is the right amount of time to stay at a job so you are not considered to be a good job hopper.

I left a job after 10 years and went to a new work place. I stayed 4 weeks 😳 and that was 2 weeks too long. Currently looking for the right opportunity

The corporate world is to blame for the decline in standards. If you don’t want job hoppers treat people well

It’s been a year and a half and I can’t work anywhere else because I don’t feel comfortable and have panic attacks at work. One was so bad I got asked to go to a meeting to see how I was doing. I asked if they were firing me, freaked out and had a panic attack. They brought me back and said we weren’t going to fire you but in seeing how badly this job was affecting you we are letting you go. They paid me like $9k in severance (40% went to taxes though). And they told me to take a break before the next job. I had bills to pay and couldn’t.

The corporate ecosystem is what’s toxic. If you stay at a job too long, it’s viewed as a red flag too. No matter what you do, it doesn’t matter. Some corporate power tripper will think it’s a red flag.

I have been accused of job hopping before, but the fact is… I have a real gift for picking the absolute worst companies to work for. If I have free job offers, I will always pick the wrong one lol

It’s also really common now in certain industries - if you stay too long you look like a dinosaur. Plus your salary only truly increases w job changes.

I never thought a job could put me in a bad place , but my guard was very up high after a very toxic work environment . I’m good now , and back to being a pleasant less suspicious employee

This is just outdated thinking - this is what the boomers thought and its translated - I don’t want someone who has stayed at one company for life / shows they don’t have agility, seen other ways of doing things, likely doesn’t take risk ……..that’s why i like the tech industry and start ups . They don’t “ pedigree hire”

That’s weird as a recruiter, because what do you do with people who work short term contracts like…

HR and recruiters are dead set with shark eyes their ideal employee until they actually go through why people leave those jobs back to back or apply to their company in haste and frustrated urgency. It’s really set up the job market of today in every sector

I have so much respect for you to come out and say this because I was also working in HR and had that same mentality until I started working in a toxic environment so now I get it. I now equate a person’s ability to distinguish a healthy work environment to a toxic one as a mature and emotionally responsible person.

Was hired as a manager at a job, worked 3 days (they sent me home early all 3 days for “high labor” and then only paid me for 1 day. They didn’t give me a new schedule and fired me saying I “never showed up to work”
