been operating for 20+ years i always tell people i can run a machine .most people say im one of the best they ever seen .I tell them it didn't happen over night it took hours days months years for me to get at this point .and I always listen to people talk and watch them operate ..so either you take the advice or dont ...but 1 year ain't gona cut it thats impossible cause I still see and have challenges .but I alway manage to do it and sometimes I surprise myself .but after 20+ years there is still lots to learn

Every job & situation is so different, one year isn’t anything, after about 5 or 6 years u start to realize how bad u were when u thought u were good

Some people can run equipment 20 years and never be good. Others can run it for a year and be good. It takes lots of years to be a real operator. Making dirt smooth is the easy part. Putting the right dirt in the right places and knowing why without being told is more important to me than just smooth. That takes years.

well I totally agree been in the industry for 40 years as well and I learned new tricks all the time and get smoother at different tasks that I wasn't before these are the type of people on the job that say they're great that everybody knows they're not and most of the times I'm not as likely to help them when they're struggling but an honest green Apprentice I would help any day of the week

my best supervisor would never tell you how to be better but he would kick you off the machine and just watch what he was doing different and putting it to practice and getting better
