@cgledhill: Take your fossil hunting to a whole other level with giant ammonites! They’re super rare and I know of just this one spot in Britain where they can be found. The largest measure 180cm across or about 6 feet. It’s luck of the draw when you go down there, they get covered over by sand and pebbles then uncovered sometimes too. #fossils #ammonites #Hiking #fossilhunting #brighton
today, I was walking through the forest and mentally narrating my walk in your voice

Thinking about it with them being so large and rare I'm surprised they haven't been taken into a museum for preservation. I know they've survived there for millions of years without intervention, but I'm guessing each time the tide comes in with debris there's risk of them deteriorating faster or potentially getting damaged.

I'm gonna be that person but fun fact! The Marine reptiles weren't actually dinosaurs! Same with the pterosaurs, they were flying reptiles but not dinosaurs

Touching materials that have existed on earth for as long as they have has to be the most amazing feeling! I understand my draw to coastal fossil cliffs more and more when I see that these are the places that my ancestors wandered! Thank you so much for sharing! ♥️♥️♥️

Finding a fancy rock or a shell is very relatable. I forget about them and then find them in the depths of a bag months later!
