This isn’t allowed in the US. PWC won’t implement software at an audit customer

Has an Audit company ever done their job and called out a company they work for. I have never heard an example of this

They really need to go back to banning auditors from doing anything other than auditing.

Except global means nothing. Yea it’s all “PwC” but it is a network of individual firms operating on their own slightly unique guidance and procedures and quality standards.

If their role is Management consultant they have never been in a management role. Chances are they have never worked in a business other than consulting - ever.

My biggest issue is that the auditors involved did not have their accountant certification revoked. It’s practically the only integrity control we have and they didn’t do it

Its literally a conflict of interest to have the same company provide advisory and assurance (audit) services but regulatory don't fine them enough to stop it from happening

I don’t think most people realize that pwc and all the big four firms are a collective of independent partnerships, limiting liability when it comes to auditing within each nation. Pwc will just clear house to some degree within the china partnership and move on

The only reason you need an Auditor is to rubber stamp something saying it's been done. Employees know where the failure points are and have been telling everyone who will listen for years. Like me

"Buying the quality"? The quality worldwide seems to be so low, I don't know how they still manage to sell off the PwC name anymore

So as someone with experience in the multinational corporate side china is a bit of a weird place for business. basically all china branches of a company really are separate companies because of the isolationist mind set that china has. when you setup the china branch it isn't just a different office with a different language china requires that their version of the company is co-equal with the international one because chinese government is terrified of being relegated to a third world market again. But what that ends up doing is that it means the chinese version doesn't follow all the same standards and practices as the regular internal. One notable place for this is the bribery, which all the chinese version of big companies do because they are run by people in the system where that is normal. You can compare that to india which also has a very normalized bribery system, but many internationals simply don't engage with it because they are still run by people who are not normalized to that scale/form of bribery. I don't know PwC's corporate structure, but if they did what most of the tech companies did there is a weird loop hole this co-equal mandate ended up making. Which is that IF, and it is a big if, the debt collectors can get the international set up as jointly liable then they still have to past the fact that the top level is still a shell corporation that can be cut and replaced at any time. So PwC just shows the top level was already in debt to the subsidiary and as an existing business expense it comes before any judgement. I think PwC is based in britain though so they might have some different laws around it, I am only familiar with the US versions of this system and we might be more open to a circular debt system. Also the big 4 really are not worth it as anything except a scape goat for gutting companies. consultants in general are -2/10, but I am a senior engineer so others opinions might very (I do mean a consultant not a SME you bring in to let the team learn something. Informationals can be quite useful).
