@coastalcurr3nts: Fire crews are still on scene fighting a large mulch fire on South Military Highway. Video shot by News 3 shows clouds of billowing smoke as firefighters work to extinguish a fire that has been burning for hours. South Military Highway near the 4000 block is still closed in both directions with no estimated time for reopening, according to the city of Chesapeake.

It will be burning for years. The mulch under the surface will still be embers even after the surface fire has gone out. If you walk across the ground a few weeks from now, you can look in any cracks & see the smoldering embers. My family leased land to a wood recycling plant in Goochland years ago and their mulch pile caught fire, this is how I know.
