Weird tip that helped me (bc I’m actually a huge introvert)…but I pretend I’m someone else for the day. Like being cast in a movie. Pick a character from a movie, book anime and “play” that person for a day. It helps.

Thank you so much for being vulnerable and honest about struggling in this way— I can relate! It’s a little ironic, because you and other gym creators are actually the reason I started finding the courage to go out and do things on my own. I used to genuinely struggle leaving the house, let alone interacting with others. My advice? Take your gym mentality everywhere you go. That confidence you exude during a workout, the safety and relief you feel when you walk into your gym, and the disregard for whatever the hell everyone else is doing because your workout is the primary focus (cuz their judgment is irrelevant), is the same formula I’ve started using in my personal life, except the new primary focus becomes coming across as open and disarming instead. Not caring so much about what other people think or feel about you stays. This stuff takes practice like everything else! Overall, just be authentically yourself, cuz you are so likeable as you are! Remind yourself that you also have lots to offer to social spaces, cuz you do! There are so many people that would love to have an opportunity to sit down and pick your brain. And decide what kind of questions you like to ask people. What kind of information do you honestly find interesting and like to know about a person as you’re building relationship with them? Anyway, I appreciate everything you do and who you are, Patty! I hope it gets easier. Rooting for you!

What helps me make conversation w people is being genuinely interested in others, it makes a world of difference. Actually wanting to get to know a person for who they are instead of worrying about what they think of you was the key for me

I think you just have to remember that most people won’t remember you and that you’re not sticking out like a sore thumb and you don’t look silly. Just approach people calmly and respectfully. Start with a compliment or a joke about the surroundings. If they’re rude or uninterested, just walk away. You have a right to exist in spaces as they do. Don’t believe that you don’t belong.

Do it a few times till it's normal and you naturally stop overthinking it, it's all in your head, just like starting at the gym the first bit feels weird then it's normal

If you’re feeling shy or insecure around people. Just remind yourself that you’re way more jacked than them

Hey Patty, To stop being shy, you have to gain confidence by pretending nothing can important you, and then just be yourself. Don't try to be something you're not. I hope this helps

Honestly, just gotta hit the “frick it we ball” button mentally and just send it. A lot of exposure at one time can be overwhelming. I found that attending some public speaking classes and events where you just have to talk and interact on a whim has really helped with that anxiety.

typical advice I would give: bars every other weekend with some friends who are more social than you.
advice for people who don't want to drink: Bars every other weekend but order diet cokes and say its a jack and coke. easier to start when everyone else's social inhibition is lower than normal, makes it easier in normal environments later, YMMV

The easiest tip is regular exposure. Even if it’s in small spurts to begin with. It takes your brain stop associating interactions with danger or fear. Good luck 💪🏽✨

Act like you not shy, do the stuff you wouldn’t normally do as much as possible. Eventually it will become your new normal

Mama you gotta put urself out there more. Find social groups online to meet like people who can help you feel more confident with yourself. But otherwise keep doing things by yourself, try to disregard the bad thoughts and reassure yourself those thoughts are unrealistic and unreasonable.
