My theory is that it is linked to coercive control (esp of a brain that processes info differently/more intensely.) But triangulation would fit under coercive control so that tracks!

I honestly think it started for me when my brother got his driver's license and suddenly a lot of stuff became his job. my mom wasn't especially conniving but she was neglectful and the idea of having to take on that layer of responsibility when i was still a teenager dealing with being neglected created a visceral reaction. I do think neglect can contribute to it a lot. like the idea of being expected to do all these things when you couldn't expect anything from anyone yourself

GIRL I just learned about this. My daughter 1000% has this but it states “strong need for autonomy “ and so she is showing me how to speak with more respect giving her the autonomy we all deserved

I believe some people tend toward self determination, while others rely on community to decide their path. The latter pathologizes the former, especially when they fail to see the risks or anticipate the result of their recommendations. At the end of the day, people are unlikely to take accountability for another's decisions or the impact of ill advice, and they shouldn't be able to force it.

And it's okay to have pda about some things but not everything. Some things are important and need to be done in a certain way to be done right. PDA is a type of personality trait for sure and narcs and controllers make it 10x worse as if they have pda of their own.
