@donnalisa385: Lord, Fix It “The Lord will fight for you, and you shall hold your peace.” — Exodus 14:14 Sometimes we pray, “Lord, fix it,” because we are exhausted. We have tried to fix the family. Fix the relationship. Fix the finances. Fix the child who has gone astray. Fix the sickness. Fix the situation at work. But prayer was never meant to turn us into the fixer. Prayer is where we surrender what we cannot control and allow God to walk us through the process. Sometimes God changes the situation. Sometimes God changes us while we are going through it. And sometimes the miracle is simply this: the situation did not destroy us because God stayed with us every step of the way. Look at the children of Israel at the Red Sea. Pharaoh's army was behind them. The sea was in front of them. Moses could not fix that situation. God told them: “The Lord will fight for you, and you shall hold your peace.” — Exodus 14:14 Then the Lord opened the sea. Notice this: Israel still had to walk through it. God made the way, but they had to trust Him one step at a time. Maybe that is where you are today. God has not shown you the whole road. He is simply saying, “Take the next step. I am with you.” Think about Daniel. God did not stop Daniel from being thrown into the lions' den. But God went with him into it. Daniel spent the night surrounded by lions, but heaven shut their mouths. Sometimes we ask God to keep us from the den, but God says, “I will prove to you that I am God even inside the den.” Then think about Paul. Paul prayed three times for his thorn to be removed. But God answered: “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” — 2 Corinthians 12:9 God did not remove everything Paul wanted removed. Instead, He gave Paul enough grace to keep going. That is why prayer is deeper than saying, “God, make everything disappear.” Prayer says: “Lord, if You change it, I trust You. If You walk me through it, I trust You. If I have to wait, I trust You. If I do not understand, I still trust You.” Maybe you are sitting beside a hospital bed. Maybe your finances are stretched thin. Maybe your family is divided. Maybe your heart is broken. Maybe you have been praying for someone you love for years. Do not carry the burden of thinking you have to make everything work out. You are not the Savior. You are not the provider of every answer. You are not the one who holds tomorrow. God is. “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding.” — Proverbs 3:5 So today, instead of only praying, “Lord, fix it,” pray: “Lord, lead me through it.” “Give me wisdom for today.” “Give me strength for this moment.” “Help me obey You when I cannot see the outcome.” “Keep my heart from bitterness.” “Keep my mind in peace.” “Help me recognize Your hand even in the process.” Because sometimes the greatest testimony is not: “God kept me from going through it.” Sometimes the testimony is: “I went through it, but the Lord never left me.” He was there at the Red Sea. He was there in the lions' den. He was there with Paul in his weakness. And He will be with you. “When you pass through the waters, I will be with you.” — Isaiah 43:2 So release it today. Stop trying to carry what only God can carry. Pray. Trust. Obey. And keep walking. Lord, I cannot fix everything in front of me. But I know You are with me. Lead me through this process.
