@daydreamscometrue: shortness of breath is not always about needing a bigger breath in. Sometimes the key is slowing down and getting more air out. Pulmonary rehab teaches this for a reason.#COPD #breathe #lungdisease #respiratoryhealth #lungdisease
It took awhile to understand this but that pursed lip breathing I learned in Pulmonary rehab is a real life saver. Especially when anxiety hits. Appreciate those who have helped.

I have hyperinflated lungs and I do pursed lip breathing and it's not helping me at all. I don't know why.

What works for me is… When needed, In the morning I take a deep breath (not extreme) and hold it for a moment. I let my lungs expand. It loosens the mucus and allows me to cough it up. Then if necessary I use my inhaler. I cough up a lot of thick sticky mucus but it works well for me.

Ok thanks to you it’s story time! Went this morning to early voting. Dreaded the parking, the walk, and the waiting line. So I’m huffing and puffing and get noticed by the younger voters and they point to a chair! So now it’s a game of strangers finding chairs for the old lady as the line moved! It broke the tension and the stillness of the line to vote! I had fun with them to my surprise, and told them I only pass out at volleyball games and outdoor graduations! They laughed and I had fun while huffing and puffing! Don’t let life stop you!
