@kathrynhatcher_: I always have several terminals of Claude Code open, working on different projects at once. Had one going for days, computer crashed, lost all of it. I’ve asked it to save to memory, save to a context file, none of it actually holds. When I reopen the chat, it has no idea what we were working on. How do you work across multiple terminals and actually keep context so a crash doesn’t wipe everything? Someone out there knows what I’m doing wrong. #claudecode #devlife #buildinginpublic #founder #TechTips
Soooo obsidian is a great way to commit it to memory, it can save it there which is great I use that and GitHub.

Sounds like you’d be suited using the desktop app if this is an issue.

Are you working in the browser? I hate the browser version. The desktop version has a plan feature that I use when I'm afraid of context loss. Also if it tells you it can't look back at previous chats, it's lying. I have a get up to speed protocol where it looks back before compaction.

This is your sign to use Codex, if you want anything done correctly, Claude has terrible UI, skills and superpowers that don’t exist, and a 0 memory of anything, and if you give it a goal it will take every shortcut possible so you have to audit and follow up for 3 more hours.

Okay, so I had it use the "channels" feature to build a communications bus with a. postgres database backend, and a slack like UI. It's hosted on railway, and I can access and chat with it from my phone. One session is opened via terminal when I start my PC, and it opens any and all other sessions via tmux. In this way I can chat with any session, and they can chat with me, and they can chat with each other if prompted. And the session history is full text indexed and searchable by them via MCP. It gets rid of the whole worrying about memory files and whatnot. And then you can have it expand the UI with additional features like tasks/stories and saving particular responses from it for action later, displaying subscription usage, etc.

It’s not that difficult. Use /resume command and it will list the recent sessions

I believe “Handoff” is a built-in Claude skill that lets you close up a terminal session and pick it up cleanly after I restart… I whipped up /checkpoint to scope and update my projects documentation and other key.. checkpoints” .

You need to have hindsight or some short memory provider and I recommend gbrain! Do run them on a vps and hindsight requires Ai tokens. Your sessions get stored on the root files of the agent, make it check

Are you using a Cloud folder for your repositories? gives that error. you should use C:/projects for repositories.

Remote dev server. Tmux. Use ccmux to organize and manage all sessions.
