My old Toyota dealership just put out a memo for the techs that all ASE are mandatory by sept 30th. They will terminate them at the beginning of next month. WTF?

Not to mention punishing the good ones with the lowest paying work. And feeding the cheap Guys all the good work cause they are greedy. No happy balance.

It’s always been about pay, if we unionized we’d actually have good pay and retirement packages. But instead all of you will backstab each other

I spent about 20 minutes tracking down the amps and part number for a battery I put into a 14 VW so I could program that information into the car to reset the warning lights. There are many problems in the industry but bullshit like that pisses me off

In my 20+ years as a GM tech, I’ve seen a lot of young technicians who had the potential to become some of the best. Unfortunately, most don’t even make it past a year. The industry doesn’t pay well enough, and too many Master Techs fill young technicians’ heads with negativity and make them lose motivation and give up too soon.

-Nailed it. Heading for a union role was my only and best move. At least 40% more comp. with 50% the workload upon hire 😆. Other industries pay better, have less workload, and theres little to no tool investment.

It’s hard to even start. I’m going to school and even got an apprentice position but they wanna pay $15 an hour. I’m a grown man with kids. That’s burger flipper pay.

clearly the solution to a shortage is higher turnover. 12 years and I'm at 28/hr flat rate with barely enough work to flag half a pay check. and before anyone says it next closest option is not only in another state but over an hour commute one way.

Jobs will have hiring bonuses, but yet wont give bonuses to employees that have been loyal to them!!!! I also see ads on indeed for technicians relocation assistance. Their idea of relocation assistance is just moving your box!!!
