@knkx885: A Los Angeles native, jazz vocalist and educator Michael Mayo — the son of two professional musicians —  grew up hearing his parents “riffing” on songs with musical colleagues, giving him a sense for improvisation before he even began to learn it formally. Mayo went on to attend the New England Conservatory of Music and the Hancock Institute of Jazz, developing an impressive command of his rich, dextrous and soulful voice along the way.
