You asked and I delivered! 🙌🏽 The full sewing tutorial for a half elastic waistband is live on my youtube channel! I was about to stitch this waistband with two inch elastic like I did on the denim circle skirt a few posts back but then I realized that I could just use several strips of half inch elastic and that way I wouldn’t have to stretch the two inch elastic and stitch on top of it. I’m always trying to make sewing more approachable for beginners and that’s how I came up with this idea to create tunnels for strips of elastic instead of just one thick piece. This is something I’ve done on an entire waistband before. Meaning the whole waistband had tunnels with half elastic in them. It looks so much neater than the two inch elastic. It takes more time but it’s soooo worth it! I even created a sewing pattern AND a sewing guide that you can read to make this half elastic waistband easily. You can find it linked in my bio. Just click on link tree and you’ll see them on the list — both the tutorial and the pattern. The video tutorial is also super detailed and if you follow it step by step, you can make your circle skirts, gathered skirts and other garments WITHOUT a zipper.
