RSV is here... and our ICUs are feeling it. 🥺💔 Every shift, we’re seeing more babies struggling to breathe because of RSV and other seasonal respiratory viruses. As a nurse, it is heartbreaking to care for these little ones. As someone who has personally had RSV as an adult, I can tell you, it is incredibly painful, exhausting, and recovery is not quick. The smallest lungs fight the biggest battles. The good news? There are simple things parents can do today to reduce the risk of severe illness: 💜Wash hands frequently before touching your baby. 💜Keep anyone with a cough, fever, sore throat or runny nose away from newborns and young infants. 💜Avoid crowded indoor spaces where possible during peak respiratory virus season. 💜Please don’t kiss babies on the face or hands—especially if you’re feeling unwell. 💜Continue breastfeeding if possible, as it provides important immune protection. 💜Keep your home smoke-free. 💜Stay up to date with recommended vaccinations for your family, including influenza and COVID-19 where appropriate. 🚨 If your baby is breathing fast, struggling to breathe, feeding poorly, becoming unusually sleepy, or has blue lips or skin, seek medical attention immediately. Not every cold is “just a cold” for a tiny baby. Let’s protect our little ones before they become another ICU admission. Prevention is always kinder than treatment. Please share this post. One share could help protect a baby. ❤️ #rsvawareness #health #nursing #MomsofTikTok #RespiratoryHealth
