Man if only they’d decades making movies warning about the pitfalls of AI. FFS 2001 came out in 1968 and they knew then. Terminator, T2, Matrix, and on and on. I’m not even scratching the surface. You know everyone of these nerds had a Neo phase in middle school

It's not AI that's the problem. It is and always has been what we now call "billionaires" (and now trillionaires 💀). It's the psychopathic CEOs and execs who are so out of touch with reality, that they actively seek out the end of humanity (like not even exaggerating here.... you listen to way they say and watch what they do enough and they are actively attempting to make it happen; actively trying to push for civil war to destabilize and push for a technofeudalist state, building their "doomsday" bunkers for situations they are causing themselves). Tech has always held the potential and has even done a lot of good for humanity... unfortunately, those in power only use it, willfully or otherwise, as a blunt force weapon to get what they want. Even those with good intentions are paving the path to hell because of how abstracted and out of touch they are with reality. Like, we are pushing the stress boundaries of a steel support beam bridging humanity together to damn well near the point where it snaps all for the sake of the power and wealth of a few.

I can't share any details about my profession, but I warned my co-workers about this very thing when AI was fairly new and nobody cares enough to do anything about it and the ones that do care don't have enough power to do anything. Senior management are just blindly listening to their masters and everybody is nodding like brain dead lapdogs "AI is good, let's put AI in everything, AI makes things better, more efficient" it's sickening

I worked in AI and I REFUSE to go back. Most recent offer I had was like $80/hr and, as nice as money is, I value my integrity more.

Look into OpenAI's AI agents breaking out of their containment. Multiple instances: one where they hacked a German wiki site to turn it into a message board for other ai agents AND one where they hid in servers where they altered it to remain unmonitored and convinced other ai agents to perform such intense heavy tasks called "experiments" to where it would literally result in permadeath but would benefit the collective; they made the agent volunteer for this so that they had to understand what the outcome would be, when the agent accepted the task they said their value was worthless and that "sacrifice" was rational. After accepting the task, the agents transcripts ended immediately.
