@connorhayeslife: Run this as a quick check, not a guess. 1. Think of your closest friend. Their loyalty is real, but it has a limit, a fight, a long silence, a version of you they'd eventually walk away from. That limit isn't a flaw. It's just where friendship ends and something else would have to start. 2. Think of a partner. That love is real too, and it can still end, a breakup, a version of the relationship that stops working. Partners love the version of you that shows up. They didn't sign up for every version, in advance, before they met you. 3. Now run the same check on your mother. There's no edge to find. No version of you that voids the agreement, because there was never an agreement, just a love that started before you did anything to earn it and kept going after you did plenty to lose it. 4. Try to find the exception anyway. A worse fight than the one with your friend. A longer silence than the one that ended the relationship. Most people can't produce one. That's the actual test, not a feeling, an attempt to break the pattern that keeps failing to break. What I can't check from here is where it comes from, chemical, learned from her own mother, or both. Nobody's run that test on your specific case. What's measurable is the pattern, not the source of it. That's not sentiment. That's the actual difference, checked side by side instead of assumed. Every other love in your life is a branch. Hers is closer to the root system underneath, the part that isn't visible and doesn't ask for credit. Compare the totals if the feeling word makes the point too soft. Count how many times a friendship survives a real betrayal, versus how many times this one has. The second number is bigger, and it isn't close. ... She needs the same thing checked in the other direction sometimes. Call her today, not for a reason. Just so the process runs both ways for once.
