Wrong reasoning. Advise your son to work hard, build wisdom, and make enough money so his wife doesn’t have to financially support him before they can live a good life. I’m not discouraging women from working. Every woman has the right to pursue her own goals. But I believe this teaching is completely false when it suggests that a man must depend on a woman’s income to build a good family. A woman’s role in the home is important, especially in raising and nurturing the children. Imagine a mother leaving home at 6 a.m. and returning at 5 p.m. every day who is consistently present to guide the children, teach them values, and shape their character? Pray that you meet a man with the wisdom, discipline, and determination to provide abundantly for his family. A man should strive to build a life where his wife is not forced to work simply because the family cannot survive without her income. My wife should not have to exhaust herself, make herself constantly accessible to people outside the home, or struggle financially just to keep our family comfortable. If I have the ability to provide, I believe it is my responsibility to do so. A woman can work if she chooses to, but a man should never lose sight of his responsibility to build, provide, protect, and create stability for his family.
