I train often and I tell trainees to NEVER state the phrase “pain seeking”. It’s messy. If the doctor has the order and it’s safe then you listen to the doctor’s orders.

Oh I LOVE these nurses. Had bloodwork I needed done today and had THAT nurse. Told her I was extremely needle phobic and have seizures from past bloodwork. And looked at me “so you want to lay down? Like what do you want me to do with that info?” Get me the BEST nurse to do a quick stick.. not cause me to panic

I've had an unfortunate amount of nurses like this. I have many lifelong illnesses that only get worse with time and still some people act like me seeking medical treatment is some kind of trick or attention grab.

When my baby was 8 months old she was hospitalized for like 4 days bc of her oxygen and breathing, all the nurses were amazing & on the 3rd night, night shift nurse kept coming in annoyed asf huffing & puffing about my baby touching her cords but everything was working fine, and she had like 20 wires taped to her of course it’s going to move sometimes, but it was never a problem for any other nurses just her I was quick to ask for a new nurse that night, don’t come to work if you’re visibly annoyed & being rude that you have to adjust a babies wires every few hours.

I’ll never get over the nurse who was giving me report and said a patients BP was like 80/40 and when I asked what the doctor said about it she told me “oh I didn’t think I needed to tell the doctor. She’s alert and everything so it’s probably fine” GIRL 😭

As an RN, the pain med thing always makes me mad. “They’re drug seeking” like……okay????? I’m still going to treat pain? Also, they’re asking for the 2 norcos they take at baseline, not dilaudid, calm yourself 🤣

i biggest pet peeve ever in skilled nursing was coming in on a monday and someone who got there friday night laid in bed ALL weekend because they were told they couldn’t get up until PT saw them. i repeatedly said THAT IS NOT TRUE!!! ugh lol
