It’s meant to take the edge off more of your anxiety and help you breathe through the contractions. My 3rd birth in November the nurse ignored how fast my husband and I told her I can progress so I kept walking to the bathroom thinking I had to pee and couldn’t sit still so thankfully that morning I learned a hypnobirthing technique and that was my only savior. Minutes before my baby was born cause she was trying to admit me vs bypassing I was begging for even the laughing gas then that long contraction hit and I gave birth standing up. For my 4th I’m giving up on epidurals and going to a birthing center and using laughing gas 🤣

I got the laughing gas at the same time they gave me the pitocin haha & I lasted like 3 hours with the gas and then I had breakfast and got the epidural lol

I labored at home until my contractions turned to back labor and I was in debilitating pain. I was hoping to be able to go into the hospital and rock on a yoga ball, try standing, try walking, showering…all the things. I got there and said call the gd anesthesiologist 😅. I was 5cm when I got in though!!

Laughing gas is good for the last bit and pushing but you definitely have to be prepared to tolerate the pain before hand! The trick is using it before your contraction starts so it works in the middle when it’s the most intense! I LOVED laughing gas with my second and hated they didn’t offer it with my new hospital with my 3rd! I literally recommend it to everyone 😂

I tried the epidural with both births, all four epidurals (they tried twice each time), failed. Expecting twins in October and as for a pain management plan, I just don’t even know anymore 😅

I did laughing gas for like 8 hours with my son and I used it again with my daughter I think it helps once I get to like 6-7 cm tho give me the epidural

I completely forgot that I wanted to try that 😂 I was on level 20 with Pitocin and got no epidural I bet it would have been a little easier with laughing gas 😂

I’ve realllllly worked on my breathing techniques and I’m also an endurance athlete and weight train so breathing through discomfort has been emgrained into my brain for a while now so I’m very interested to see how the gas will help emphasize my breathe skills

Just used gas while actively pushing, water broke just before 7 am got kids off to school went to hospital around 9 baby was born just before 1pm. First kid 4 days past “due date”

It did absolutely nothing for me lol, I chose the IV pain meds instead cause they weee wayyyy more effective

I didn’t know laughing gas was a thing for laboring.. I used epidural for my first but didn’t work on me. With my second I didn’t use epidural.

the nurses were convinced i wasn’t doing it right bc i was telling them it was doing literally nothing. i was like girl im inhaling harder than i ever have it’s NOT WORKIIING. the epidural guy was going to be like a half an hour so they gave me fentanyl instead and i was like thank u mfs
