@uppity_jewish_negress: This conversation i feel is evident of too many Black parents in interracial relationships not considering, working through or planning how to respond to what racial socialization will be like for thier child, whether they are biracial or not. I feel like this conversation isnt being had amoung people who dont want to talk about race due to internalized antiblackness. you cant teach somebody to have a good relationship with thier Black identity if you dont have one yourself. Both parents should be involved in nurturing and helping thier children to understand Racial esteem and Racial socialization.b #biracial #mixed #blackandwhite #interracialcouple #parents

We just want to be able to participate in both (3 of our cultures for some) our cultures without any backlash.

I guarantee biracials know FAR more about race than black people OR white people do and you can stamp that. If it’s not anti-white then it’s not anti-black to identify as our own group.

I have identified as Black my entire life. That's how my family raised me to identify. Over the last 3 or 4 years, I am constantly berated by monoracial Black people online any time I mention that I am Black. It makes it so hard to even have a conversation about something because someone insists on trying to veer the conversation about my race instead of about the topic I'm actually trying to discuss. This isn't just happening to me, obviously. A lot of mixed people are getting tired of being told they can't identify as a certain way. Most mixed people just want to be left alone. Let us identify as we see fit. Our phenotype can present in a wide and vast ways. We culturally can all be completely different. Just let us be.

Do any of the couples talk about having biracial kids? I don’t feel like mine did. One of my parents thought having me would solve racism 😞

I mean a LOT of the community do be telling them they aint black so i can understand where they coming from like they aren’t perceived as black enough for the black community and they def ain’t white enough for the white community i dont think the collective are trying to come from a place of racism (though some def are) i think more so they just want to be/ feel accepted somewhere and feel it’s to the point they need to make their own community not disagreeing with you though

My son is biracial his father and I tell him he’s black when he gets older I’ll expand on what whiteness actually is and why it will never apply to him. His father and I have a very clear understanding of how we discuss race in our household and we love and celebrate blackness over here. I’m also big on him embracing his dad’s side as far as actual culture his grandparents are from Hungary and his granny teaches him the language.

We literally have nothing in common other than our parents races. We all look different, raised different, are treated different. We don’t have a unified culture.

If biracial people choose to identify as biracial then they need to leave black people alone. That’s my only request. Black people shouldn’t come up and we shouldn’t be involved. Black Americans already have mulatto ancestry and they chose to identify as black. We aren’t starting that clock over for these new people. Majority of them are not black American at all and that’s why they confused. Not our problem sorry. My family is fully of mixed folks and never been an issue at all.

I’m biracial but I consider myself a black woman. I was raised by a fully white parent but don’t identify as white not one bit. I 100% agree with your take in this video

I thought mixed people saw a way to escape antiquated race based thinking and create a new era of prosperity by making their own rules.

I’ve gone through multiple identities. I tried to claim my Latino heritage while keeping my black identity by identifying as Afro-Latino and I was told by black people that I wasn’t black, I was “one of them.” Then I found out that Afro-Latinos are restricting the meaning of the label by claiming you have to be “fully-black,” and as a person who is the son of a white-Hispanic mother and black father, I knew I was getting cut out of that flock too. And clearly just being Latino isn’t going to be enough to completely ground my identity, especially given how the Latino community treats its dark-skinned members. I’ve never really considered the fact that I’m biracial, triracial if you want to get into the specifics of Latin genetics. But I’ve never had to reckon with my identity in this magnitude before.

I think it's rude any of yall to keep coming on here telling biracials they're confused on what they are like they haven't been systemically excluded but still subjected to the same racism as their black counterparts. No one is confused about themselves stop saying that corny shit

The reality is we need our own race or community where we have a respected voice and our identity can never be questioned we can’t keep being bridges that are stepped on for the white and black races just to fit in or get in good graces with them for their own traumas they have against each other and we are just the mirror. No it doesn’t mean we have to reject or blackness or be anti black or white but we are both we our own new race we don’t fit in with monoracial black/white people psychologically or biologically

They're saying that because of All the ignorant Black people on here who are increasingly saying saying if one of their parent White, they're not Black. Broke, unintelligent Black people have become the Entitled. They are the most racist group around today. A light skin black person is only acceptable to them if they want something they have. That's part of the reason we decent, intelligent, hardworking, honest, Black people have named them The Black Fatigue Community.

Why do you care how we identify? Btw none of us are saying we’re a complete new distinct race you’re just straw manning. We are just recognizing both sides of us the way blasians can with black and Asian and blaxicans can with black and Mexican we’re just doing the same with white and black.

Whatever the social mechanics, historical relevance, and implications are, they should identify separately from us. If we as Black people don't like it we should simply stop creating them.
