@kaseyafterhours: I cried in the courtroom today. Not because I regretted being there. Because there is a weird kind of humiliation in having to sit in a courtroom and ask to be protected from your estranged spouse. My best friend scooted closer, took my hand, and whispered, “You would do the same for Charlotte.” And that was it. I stopped wondering whether I was strong enough to do this for myself. Because I would do it for her. I would want my daughter to stand up the first time a man made her afraid. I would want her to choose herself without guilt. I would want her to know that being loved should never hurt. So today, I protected their mother. Because I refuse to raise a daughter who believes women are supposed to endure violence in the name of love. And I will raise my son with the same conviction..that strength is never measured by how much fear you can put into a woman. Families pass things down. Names. Faces. Wedding rings. Old photographs. Stories whispered about the people whose blood still runs through us. Sometimes they pass down darker things, too. Fear mistaken for loyalty. Silence mistaken for forgiveness. Pain dressed up and handed to the next generation under the name of love. Not mine. Whatever darkness found its way to me stops here. I will not wrap it carefully and place it into my children’s hands like some poisoned family heirloom. I will not let my daughter inherit my silence. I will not let my son inherit another man’s violence. It came for a place in our family tree. Instead, it found… me. My children can inherit everything beautiful that survives me. But this ends in my bloodline. If this pain had to enter our family, then let it find its grave with me. My children will inherit many things from their mother. This will not be one of them. I will carry it to the grave before I let my children inherit the kind of love that leaves a woman crying in a courtroom. #dv #domesticabuseawareness #protectiveorder

So Proud of you Kasey. DV is a horrible thing for anyone to live thru, especially for women and children! THIS is what strength looks like ... carry on Queen! You just took your world back! You hold the pen to your journal in this life, and you just erased the weak individual that put you thru this. ✨ Shine on for your children, they are watching! ❤️
