That’s why these dogs belong on farms. I personally don’t think they should ever just be a pet. And this is how we are supposed to live harmoniously with animals

My sister in law rented a cottage in a rural spot in Scotland for a weekend for our 2 families while we were visiting her in Edinburgh. 6 kids & 3 adults took a walk through the nearby woods; we were joined by a local border collie throughout the whole walk, and once we were safely deposited back in our cottage, he took off. He was like FFS, now I have to herd bleedin’ *people*??

I’m an Aussie mom, and he has to heard all of his cats downstairs into their cat bedroom before he’ll go out for his nightly poop. Herding dogs are smarter than a lot of humans I’ve met

Border Collies are the most intelligent breed of dog. I watched them herd sheep down a mountain in Ireland. 3 dogs and hundreds of sheep. It was INSANE to watch!

I can legit point to an animal & my BC will bring her to me. To be fair…. She is naturally eager to learn and positive reinforcement is her love language. She’s my best friend too, I love her so damn much!!! She is a farm dog and an absolute bad ass but she has helped me heal my soul.

Its really to increase the moms protective instincts it releases the right hormones and mom claims baby.. and by keeping the ewe still so baby can nurse also releases oxytocin. It’s a pretty cool tool farmers use

Growing up I had a legit nanny dog. My mom would set me up with my baby blanket and stuff and Kaiya would plop down next to me and make sure I’d stay in the “ approved” area and didn’t let anyone else near it or come close to me except my mom or siblings. She wasn’t a BC but a golden retriever/ husky mix ( Got the best qualities of both). My mom truly saved a fortune 😂

wait a minute second. you're telling me humans put more attention into training dogs helping new sheep moms nurse than training humans how to help new human moms nurse? cause I gave birth at a birth center, wanting to be, and the nurse encouraged formula supplements day 1. and sheep me was like no, let him tell my body he is out and he is hungry and once we were home I was over-producing despite the nurse telling me I couldn't feed my baby.

My grandmother has borders and I have Aussies. We train in agility once a week and we just talk about how they herd us to go do jumps. Never fails. They need a job to the point they created a job to do a job. 😂
