Bc motherhood fundamentally changes who you are. I love my kid, more than air. I made those changes willingly and enthusiastically. But I also miss who I was. You don’t know what it does to your life until you do it and it’s not that I’d go back, you can’t go back. Just bc a sacrifice is worth it doesn’t make it any less a sacrifice.

if you have a crappy partner you'll lose yourself , hobbies , what makes you happy , you'll be a default parent and everything will fall on you. the load is yours to carry only. but I've seen mom who go right back to how they were before kids, the same hobbies, etc. bc their partner can actually set up and be a hands on parent,

Losing your identity. Your whole identity becoming a mother. No time to yourself ever again. Grieving your past life, body, mind, freedom. Bringing kids into this world today is a horrific idea. So many reasons. I’ve heard countless women speak on this! There’s also a group on fb called “I regret having children” where countless women speak on this exact thing 💖

It means the kids are not the problem. It’s the circumstances we are raising them in which, for many of us, changed from circumstances that we had them in.

it means society punishes us for having children instead of supporting us. it's not about the children. it's about everyone else.

Katie, as an old friend, let me tell you. Shit ain’t easy. I love them with my whole soul. However, they require every ounce of my time, mental energy and physical energy to live and that is exhausting. And you can’t quit them. You must continue with a smile. When parents say they’re tired, it means I might’ve (heavy on the might) slept well last night, BUT I AM TIRED. And I’ll do it again tomorrow. FOREVER

I wouldn't because at the age I had my son, I didn't comprehend how cruel the world is and how unethical it truly is to bring a child to this world of suffering. I can't be with him 24/7, I can't take away any pain he may feel, I can't stop his future struggles. And the unconditional love I feel for my child is why I wouldn't bring him again. This world can be cruel and I can't prevent him from experiencing that. That's what it means to me.

It means that when you have kids, your life is not your life anymore. It's all about them, forever. So think it over very carefully. It's hard, really hard. It is a 24/7 lifetime responsibility

72yo here. It means that I wouldn't allow myself to ever again be expected to give up my career to stay at home and look after the kids, put my husband's career and his needs, including leisure time for him, all before my own needs. To endure his emotional stuntedness and lack of communication skills, his total lack of effort to improve, to do all the household labour, childcare with no break, cook like a chef and clean up afterwards, carry the whole mental load, look good, be nice to his bitchy mother to keep the peace, not ask him to have a vasectomy but take full responsibility for avoiding pregnancy without avoiding sex, to fend off sexual advances from his best friend every time we had them over for a BBQ and have him not believe me when I told him about it, it was a joke apparently. You know, all the classic cliches. They suck you dry. I love my daughters though. That's all it means. Take heed.

The world, as it is now, is not designed to support mothers. We get a finite amount of time on this planet and the emotional load we carry for our children is crushing. It’s not just the money or the time or the exhaustion, it’s the suffocating and relentless responsibility. We are giving what we don’t have - pouring from an empty cup. If given the opportunity to chose again, between motherhood in this environment or being childless, I’d choose to spend my life in peace. And also… i love who I am because of my children. And holding those two truths simultaneously is also exhausting.
