Aashiqui 2 (2013) is a romantic musical drama about love, fame, addiction, and sacrifice. The movie follows Rahul Jaykar, Aditya Roy Kapur, a famous singer whose career is falling apart because of alcoholism. One night, he hears a young woman named Aarohi Keshav Shirke, played by Shraddha Kapoor, singing at a local bar. Impressed by her extraordinary voice, Rahul promises to make her a star. Rahul helps Aarohi enter the music industry. She becomes a successful playback singer, while Rahul’s own career continues to decline due to his drinking. Despite their growing love for each other, Rahul struggles with feelings of insecurity and guilt, believing he is holding Aarohi back from achieving even greater success. Although Aarohi remains devoted to Rahul and tries to help him recover from his addiction, Rahul feels that his failures and public scandals are damaging her future. Unable to overcome his inner demons and convinced that Aarohi deserves a better life without him, he makes a heartbreaking decision. In the film’s tragic climax, Rahul dies by suicide, hoping his absence will free Aarohi to pursue her dreams without being burdened by his problems. Devastated, Aarohi continues her singing career while carrying Rahul’s memory with her. Aashiqui 2 became one of the biggest Bollywood hits of 2013, and its soundtrack—especially songs like “Tum Hi Ho,” “Sunn Raha Hai,” and “Chahun Main Ya Naa”—was widely acclaimed and remains popular today.
