Dear God this video ripped my heart open and took me back to 1972. My boyfriend (later my husband) was supposed to meet me on Sunday afternoon after our family got back from vacation on Sunday afternoon June 11. He never showed up but then the phone rang and it was his best friend calling to tell me that the love of my life had been in a motorcycle accident. He didn’t know if he was still alive but was taken to Ben Taub hospital in Houston. We got to the hospital but they couldn’t find him. I went into shock immediately. We got up to the 3rd floor and I heard a scream and I took off to find him. I was 16. He was lying on a Stryker framed bed with holes drilled into his head and weights keeping his neck immobilized. He had a broken neck and his elbow was shattered (the Dr said) into about 60 pieces. I know he loved his bike, motocross and stunts but I was broken. After two weeks we took him home. We got married, had a beautiful baby girl. I begged him but he still rode but was way more careful and no more stunts. The Lord let us keep him until 1977 then took him home. 💔
