@kalshi: Record rain hit Nagoya on Tuesday, with 104.5 mm falling in a single hour, the heaviest hourly rainfall the city has recorded since observations began in 1890. The previous record of 97 mm had stood since September 2000. The downpour overwhelmed drainage systems across central Japan, flooding roads and subway stations and forcing the suspension of Tokaido Shinkansen bullet train services. Authorities issued the highest Level 5 flood warning along the Shonai River in Aichi and Gifu prefectures, covering more than 600,000 households across 14 wards. Four people were injured and about 2,700 residents sought refuge. The flooding comes 11 days before Nagoya is set to co-host the 2026 Asian Games.
