I’m learning that loving somebody and knowing how to love them are two completely different things. I loved my wife, but there were parts of me that I never dealt with before I asked her to build a life with me. Ego, selfishness, needing validation, bad habits, unresolved pain… shit that existed long before she ever did. And somehow the woman who didn’t create those wounds ended up getting hurt by them. That’s the part accountability forces you to face. You can’t keep saying “but I love you” without eventually asking yourself, “What does being loved by me actually FEEL like?” Because love shouldn’t constantly require somebody to recover from you. Your partner can support your healing, but they shouldn’t have to sacrifice their peace while you avoid doing the work. Some things require therapy. Some require uncomfortable conversations with yourself. Some require admitting that the problem isn’t your relationship—it’s shit inside of YOU that you carried into it. And sometimes you don’t realize how serious that is until the person who loves you starts becoming exhausted from loving you. I never want my wife to reach a point where she has to choose between loving me and protecting herself from me. So the work I’m doing now isn’t only about saving my marriage. It’s about becoming a man whose love actually feels like love to the woman receiving it. Because somebody can love you with their whole heart and still eventually realize they can’t survive the way you love them. #Accountability #MarriageTok #RelationshipTok #MensGrowth #HealingJourney
