When I was a kid, my mom scratched my neck repeatedly ( she also beat me but the scratches left visible marks) cause I couldn’t answer a verbal reasoning question,I was still in kindergarten (kg1 or kg2, I can’t remember) went to school, teacher asked what happened, told her, they talked to my mom about it, got home and got beat harder for telling on her and that is still one of the mildest beatings or abuse I’ve faced with my parents

They hate to know that despite their abuse, despite their level of neglect (if I made a list, you’d probably think I’m insane), I was strong enough to end the cycle and make a name for myself. Neither of them could and never will. They hate knowing that a legally blind artistic gay man is stronger, wiser, more creative, friendlier, just better in every sense of the word, than them.😂

I had the same kind of childhood. I don’t think it was “intentional” per se. I do think they knew it was wrong, but I feel they had a lack of self control and emotional regulation. Very emotionally immature. I think it’s because hurt people hurt people. As a parent myself, I can’t imagine acting how my parents did. But I myself had to do MAJOR work and healing on myself to not turn out like them. I had so much anger and resentment built up it turned into me not knowing how to control my own anger or regulate myself because I never had a chance to express my own emotions. So I had to CONSCIOUSLY break the cycle when I had my own kids to not act the same way. And yes, get tf away from them. I moved states and got away from all of them to start truly healing.
