if i remember right the highboy frames r .35 inches wide strait thru. 78/79 in behind the cab .spread to 37. bult alot of trucks in my day

My grandparents did the same with rear springs on theirs. Had a huge camper but grandpa used coils out of a GM full size car for overloads plus a couple add a leafs

We put a 4” lift on my buddy’s 74 highboy and we converted it to 78/79 style Saginaw power steering, works way better. I also had that same conversion on my 72 highboy.

Love my old highboy. Steering was junk from the factory, I swapped in a 79 box. Some people hate it, but I can drive it anywhere now. 7.3 swap as well.

I have a tractor on my farm from 1979 it has same style of assist steering it can be interesting to drive sometimes
