the irony in knowing Emily was the same, she didn’t follow rules and did things her own way. She couldn’t cope with a child like herself and blamed Lore for being a terrible child when she was literally Emily’s double. The woman was mad her daughter didn’t conform but fell apart when she took Rory and ran away. Nothing was enough, everyone was wrong and Emily was right and this is why she and Lore couldn’t have the relationship she wanted so badly. Emily wanted a pretty clever daughter like Rory who obeyed, was eager to please and want love but not more than they could give. Lore needed proper hands on parents ready and willing to give her what a child needed, stability and care. Emily wanted a pet, not a child and she resented Lore for not being that pet, and having the daughter she craved so badly
