@extensionistla: I used to think stylists online were lying about ‘how easy’ keratin removals are, until I realized the truth: • the components of the keratin is everything, low quality keratin = hard to remove bonds. If you’re struggling to remove your bonds, this could be one of the biggest reasons why. • over working the bond during installation. Heating, and re heating, and over working the keratin can lead to difficult removals, because that bond is really worked in there. The installation process is so important to how the removal will go. • poor aftercare - if your client comes in with matting and tangling, you’ll spend more time trying to de-mat, than you will just removing the bonds. Make sure you’re teaching your client how to practice good at home care, brushing and separating the bonds is so important. • using high heat on the bonds. If your client is getting their flat iron, curler or other hot tools on the attachment point, the keratin will melt, most probably fusing with the bonds next to it, and then cool down again; this leaves a big clump of keratin that is stuck in the hair. Removing this is a nightmare, so be sure you teach your client to never get hot tools on the bond itself after the install (this is especially hard if they’re going long between appointments and the bonds are super grown out).
