my husband was non verbal from birth - age 16. He started talking in a restaurant randomly when the server asked what he wanted and his mom was about to order to the wrong thing. He said he only talked when it was necessary even for years after that. Now I can’t get him to shut up. Jesus.

I was the selective mute until 10th grade… i indeed can relate. Fast forward ended up working with the same teachers who i was silent with after graduating they were indeed shocked.

I didn’t speak till I was 7, I was placed in foster care with my older brother (17month age difference) at age 3 and for some reason even though he spoke perfect English this woman thought I spoke a different language… from ages 5-7 I had a German tutor… and that’s the story on how the state of Nebraska accidentally taught me German 😂😂😂 I just didn’t want to talk ok jeeze I went through a lot

So as I understand, it, music is processed in a different brain part of the brain then speech. It’s an amazing feeling when you watch someone nonverbal connect to music and lyrics this way. ❤️

My daughter is nonverbal, and this week every time a specific mgk song would play on a drive she’d put her hands up and clap. Took me three plays to realize the exact moment she kept clapping at was when he says “we don’t have nothing to say!” 🤣

My nephew was selectively non verbal… one day we were getting him ready for school and he was just crying, silent tears, I’m washing his face and I say “aww tt baby what’s wrong?” Not expecting a response that baby looks me dead in my face and says “tt yo breath stank” let’s just say I was shocked, happy and humbled all in one moment 😭😭😭
