@jessica.fitzwater: 7 things this quilt taught me as a beginner quilter 🧵🤎 1. Press your seams toward the darker fabric. Apparently the quilt police were right about this one 😂 2. The backing can completely change the personality of a quilt. It does not have to perfectly “match” the front. 3. There will be a point in every quilt where I become convinced it is hideous. So far, the answer is just… keep going. 4. Pretty fabric does not prevent #3. Neither does loving the quilt before you start. 5. Fraying fabric can make a perfectly sane person lose her mind. Next lesson: figuring out what “cutting on the bias” actually means. 6. Finishing one quilt top somehow gives me ideas for four more. This seems financially dangerous 😂 7. Quilters might be my favorite thing I’ve discovered about quilting. Different ages, different lives, different styles—and somehow everyone has been so encouraging to a beginner figuring it out as she goes. Still learning. Still making mistakes. Still absolutely loving it. 🤎 #beginnerquilter #quiltingbeginner #quiltingjourney #quiltingcommunity
I am in my slow stitching stage of quilting…hand piecing and hand quilting. It’s also my hobby and not my job. I can’t compare myself to people who have finished six quilt this summer.

Number 3 is so real. But number 2 fixed number 3 on my last two quilts so I figure that makes me 2 for 2 😂
