🇬🇧 How everyone is getting multiple NHS interviews > and you’re still getting rejected It’s probably NOT because they’re more qualified than you. A lot of people are making one major mistake: They’re treating every NHS application like the same application. The people consistently getting interviews are usually much more intentional. Here’s what I’d do: 1️⃣ Stop applying to every NHS vacancy you see. Choose roles that genuinely match your qualifications, experience and transferable skills. 2️⃣ READ THE PERSON SPECIFICATION. Not just the job title. Look at every essential and desirable criterion. Then ask: “Where have I demonstrated this?” Your application needs to make that connection obvious. 3️⃣ Use the language of the vacancy. If they repeatedly mention: * MDT working * communication * service improvement * safeguarding * leadership * caseload management * data * stakeholder engagement and you genuinely have that experience, show it using clear evidence. Don’t make the recruiter hunt for it. 4️⃣ Stop submitting the same supporting statement everywhere. Your NHS application should be tailored to the actual service and role. Even two jobs with the same title can have very different priorities. 5️⃣ Make your previous experience transferable. No UK experience? That doesn’t automatically mean no relevant experience. Your overseas work, volunteering, university projects, placements and professional experience can still demonstrate the competencies they’re looking for. 6️⃣ Study successful NHS applications. Look at the structure. Look at how people demonstrate competencies. Look at how they turn responsibilities into evidence. Then improve YOUR application. 7️⃣ Apply AND prepare for the interview. Don’t wait until you’re invited. Once you start getting applications out, begin building your examples using STAR. Because the goal isn’t: “I hope I get an interview.” It’s: “If I get the interview, I’m ready.” And here’s the biggest shift: You don’t need 100 NHS applications. You need a better system for identifying the right vacancies and making your strongest applications count.
