@starjessetaylor: The nervous system industry bubble is going to pop. This is because the industry doesn’t understand the language of the brain. The language of the brain is engagement. When you're trying to get relief from the anxiety, panic attack, stress, intrusive thoughts, OCD, DPDR, then you're giving the brain a signal of engagement, which teaches the brain to give you more of that. So you might get short-term relief but long-term pain. Now don't get me wrong. The techniques in and of themselves are not bad. It's the intention behind it: trying to get relief and trying to fix the feelings that create more mental health problems. Because the intention of fixing teaches the brain that you love to fix these problems and the brain gives you more problems to fix. If you want to enjoy your life again, it's about a practice of getting stronger, which then makes things easier. And this is called emotional and mental fitness. If you want to enjoy your life again, be excited about your life again. Join my group coaching community.#nervoussystemhealing #nervoussystemdysregulation

I healed my nervous system by starting a hobby that kept me happy and busy - no more focus on dysregulation = healed ❤️🩹 .

This guy is speaking facts. Whatever you are stuggling with mentally don’t read about it don’t watch videos about it don’t follow courses dont talk about it and the best of best don’t even think about it. Just live life be more active enage in events that make you uncomfortable. The more often you do things yoh are scared of the better you will feel with time

I tried every single tool out there and it made me feel WORSE. I then realized. The goal isn't to feel better. The goal is to stop treating every uncomfortable sensation or thought like something that needs to be fixed. The hard part isn't knowing what to do. The hard part is resisting the urge to do something to the sensation
1. Notice the thought, then leave it.
2. Notice the sensation, then leave it.
3. Don't fix or change anything.
4. Return to what you were doing.
5. Allow all thoughts, feelings, and sensations to remain in the background.
Simple yes, and yet very uncomfortable in the beginning.

as a gal w a psych degree he’s kinda right, once you avoid something (you miss the dentist, you skip a lecture) your brain begins flagging that thing as a danger, do it enough and it reaffirms the danger. the only way is to teach the nervous system the things is safe which is why exposure therapy works so well for ocd :) but we usually use systematic desensitisation as to not cause an overload or further trauma :)

It’s not that simple man…you’re simplifying a complex system that’s evolved over millennia 👀

Your nervous system is triggered by your brain. So if you just act as if you are completely healed, you will naturally start gathering evidence that you are empowered and not in danger. Therefore your nervous system will not get triggered. Taking action on your passions is the best medicine.

This makes a lot of sense!! As a long term sufferer with panic attacks and constantly checking on the sensations in my body the worse my symptoms get. Same with talking therapies, the more you talk about your trauma the worse you feel!!

Living your life WHILE using these tools is the key. Exposure plus regulation. Not making the disregulation the enemy.

one of the best ways to heal it is to release control. Intrusive thoughts & fear? tell yourself it's just noise because it is just noise. Let them play out and stop trying to fight them. Give this trick 1 weeks effort and watch how calm you become

I feel you are describing one extreme and recommending total suppression that is what humanity has done for centuries and need to heal from too. There is importance to have a balanced view and harmonised response that is resolving the root of it not only symptoms - suppressing like they don’t exist or then overstimulating symptoms and letting them be the inner voice …

I think regulation exercises are excellent, but only if you take them as a tool to relax a little and then do a scary or stressful action in real life. The problem is that people think that these exercises are a solution, but emotions need to be experienced and come out as crying, screaming, etc. You can't heal the heart from the brain. It does help, but these are 2 different things. We came to experience the full range of emotions in life.

I think the point of nervous system regulation is to become comfortable with how you are feeling, and not feeling the need to fix the feeling right away. It’s to sit with it. Eventually the tools you learn will start integrating into your everyday life. But I do agree that it could go the other way and people

So somatic exercises like breathing, fascia release, stretching etc. also don’t work and make things worse? 🫣

I was actually just having this same thought. I created my reality much better without focusing on “healing” my nervous system all the time. Like all this healing is too much. It feels like a full time job. I quit

I do agree with this, however, all of the work I’ve done has brought me to the best, calmest baseline I’ve ever had. It’s not just about the body, it’s changing your thoughts as well. I used somatic therapy and the Monroe Institute focus levels to stop my thoughts. The somatic therapy was for my body. I believe they both have to be treated separately and differently
