I have never heard of dmdd. Very interesting. Have you looked at dialectical behavioral therapy? This look very frustrating. Do you have anyone that can take her for a week or weekend so you can have a break

My first time on your page so apologies if this has been addressed, but I’m wondering if you’ve gotten CPS involved? Sometimes when kids become unmanageable, good parents will temporarily give up their children so they can get higher levels of care (therapeutic group homes). I know it sounds odd but I work in the field and I’ve seen it done. If you’re in California, feel free to reach out, I have a ton of resources for youth that don’t require CPS involvement as well.

What exactly has to happen before they admit for longer than 3 days? I feel like all the boxes are checked…

What?!!! How? What could possibly happen in ten minutes? I imagine like you explained last time it was threats against herself that made them agree to take her. Involve the court if you can.

Stay strong mama. My daughter had ODD, MDD and anxiety 13 hospitalizations and at about 17 did a complete 360 turn around and graduated high school a year early and is in her 3rd year in college. We have the best relationship now. Sometimes you have to breakthrough and find the root of the problem. Mine was being brainwashed by her dad and family members. Once she saw things for what it was it’s like the confusion and anger slowly disappeared. Praying for your situation. I know every situation is different but just know things can get better.🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽❤️

It was the going to school tomorrow that set her off wasn’t it? I was there before.

I don’t understand why she has to agree to go when it’s long term care and yet she gets agitated and qualifies for involuntary.

not sure where you are from but in my state, a judge can order them to a long term inpatient facility. especially if you have doctors signing off on it...

Ugh! I wish they would keep her long enough for her to at least STABILIZE and not be angry before releasing her. Our 15 year old son has very similar diagnoses (and a few more) “crisis stays” are quoted at 5-7 days; his are typically 10-14 shortest ever has been 7. Our worst cycle was in 10-14 days and home 5; on repeat 4 times before finding a residential hospital but he’s been there the last 2 February and March’s

The only good thing about the amount of repeated holds, is that it can actually become evidence that the current cycle of crisis → acute hospitalization → discharge home → another crisis is not solving the underlying problem.

They never listened to me when I told them my daughter was not ready for release and she always ended up going right back. Let normalize listening to us who live with them.

Im so sorry. the mental health treatment in this country is so bad! for everyone but especially in peds. if you are lucky enough to find an inpatient peds hospital they cant do anything to help you. if you can sign papers for surgery and they will perform it even if the child says "no", the same rule should apply to inpatient mental health treatment

I agree you have to find her somewhere else to live to save her because you know she can control it elsewhere.

That’s so exhausting for you. Do they keep releasing after 3 days? I work at a psych hospital (both for teens & adults) and we will keep patients over that time if they sign in & need treatment to stabilize
