@erinnelsonoxo: The Hamilton Spectator was kind enough to interview me regarding the attack that took oplace on September 5th, 2026. Please take a minute to watch and read this September 5th, around 9pm I was walking my dog when an unleashed, un-collared, clearly very untrained dog had set out to attack my boy and me. This dog was persistent on killing Jalapeno, and I was persistent on not allowing this to happen. I took the brunt of the trauma to protect my boy. $271 for the vet bill, 3 days in and out of the ER, stitches, plastic surgery, and a hell of a lot of trauma. My boy surrendered, played dead, I thought he was dead. Till I realized all the blood was MINE. I saved my boys life by being able to turtle shell my body over him protecting his jugular, my head and face until there was help from nearby bystanders as the owner watched me become a human chew toy. I have a pit bull, who’s afraid of his own farts. This isn’t about breeds - it’s about ownership and the negligence behind owning a dog, period. The owner did nothing to step in and help and it took at least 10 people to barricade me and my boy to protect us as this dog had one goal in mind. To kill. Please for the love of god ALWAYS keep your dog leashed and supervised. We were but that dog wasn’t. Police and animal services are involved. Thankfully I have an amazing support system behind me; taking care of me, checking in on me, and guiding me through next steps. This experience has been truly dehumanizing, degrading and exhausting but I’m so grateful that my boy is alive, I’m alive, and that I was able to protect him. He left with a couple cuts and scratches but he was one hell of a protector and a good boy. Even when he got out of his leash and collar due to the situation he huddled with me. And never once reacted at me. All injuries sustained are from a vicious, untrained, unpredictable large breed dog. Please be careful!
