This, ladies and gentlemen, is a form of “vote buying”. Imagine voting someone in office bc you need that $5000 promised to you. This tactic works in poorer countries because the corrupt politicians know that people really need the money and will agree. But, it’s SOOO effective that politicians in those countries keep people poor so they will always need politicians who promise such things. Vicious cycle. And, of course, that money comes from everyone’s taxes. Hahaha!
