Signs that Tyson had ivdd. Sorry this is a long one! We went to our vet 3 times before we were told he had suspected ivdd and needed an emergency specialist appointment. The first evening Tyson was barking then collapsed on the floor panting, we put this down to the heat so moved him to a different room and got his cooling mat to see if that helped. Once he had cooled down and stopped panting he was unsettled and couldnt get comfortable for over two hours, his back legs kept twitching and he couldn't sleep. We made an out of hours vet appointment, by the time we attended he was pretty much back to normal other than a slight wobble when he walked. We were prescribed pain medication for a week as they thought hexmay of hurt his back and told to visit our vet if he didn't improve. The next day he still didn't seem right to us, he was having moments where he looked like he was struggling to walk or didn't want to move. We took him back to our vet who said they thought it was the mid section of his back and that it could be ivdd so to not let him jump or climb stairs. They said as he was still walking they wouldn't refer for an mri. There was no mention of crate rest. The third day by the time we had got to work Tyson was struggling to get up or walk by he could barely walk and was refusing food and drink. We rang the vet for advise who told us it will be the medication making him drowsy and wobbly. So taking this advise we waited, Tyson got worse rather than better and was unable to support his head or legs. We contacted the vet again who made us an appointment for 2 hours time. At this appointment he was assessed and straight aware a call was made to get him an emergency appoitnment at the specialists. On that last day I wish we had trusted our instincts and pushed for an earlier vet appointment, as he would of got treatment alot earlier. it may not of made a difference to the outcome but he would of not spent an additional day in pain. #dogsoftiktok #ivddsymptoms #ivddrecoveryprogress #trustyourinstincts #ivddwontstopme
